Truth

Like so many people say
Ignorance is bliss
You walk through life oblivious to what is going on around you
but the truth always seems to come out
Although many try to hide from the truth
it is inevitable, life is inevitable
The truth of the matter is...
I've spent most of my life hiding from the unknown
in fear that the worst might occur
But that is the definition of life...
a plethora of occurrences
While I was protecting myself my life passed me by
and I have yet to recover.
I appear to be unharmed
but that is only when the spotlight is on me
But in the dark... I am broken
and falling into an endless pit
with no hands reaching out to catch me
As I am falling my eyes are wide open
Open to see my life flashing by, right in front of me
The happiness, the sadness
My life seems unimportant as I fall
It is then I come to the realization
The truth
Life is what you make of it
I've heard it before but never took it at face value
It is the truth that saves me from an eternity of falling
It is the truth that changes me
It is the truth that snatches me from my fantasy world to the real world
It is at this moment I cry
Which is the first real thing I've done in a while
