There once was a girl who loved to dance and smile, who had big dreams that she had no problem chasing. She wasn’t jaded and always saw the best in people. She knew how to have fun and had a spirit that many envied. She was open to the possibilities of new things and wasn’t afraid to love. Overtime a change began to happen. This girl wasn’t quite the same; smiling and dancing a little less while her optimistic views turned into pessimistic ones. When this change happened, no one knows.Could it have been when the man she admired ultimately failed her or when the one she loved went on to love her friend? Maybe it was the friend she gave her virtues to just to say she did. It couldn’t just be about the men in and out of her life. Possibly the change came from too many treacherous friends breaking her spirit or from the family who takes but never gives. It could just be all the liars, fakers and haters.Or she changed when they died while the other attempted to take their life. Would anyone know all this was going on with her? Never. She slowly but surely began to fade away her voice a little softer, settling for less than she’s worth. But still when did this change happen? When did this girl become so unhappy that she only wishes happiness for others but ceases to see it for herself? Maybe she has lost too much…too many.
This isn’t a sad story just a real one. While no one was paying attention, not even her, she changed. She is broken and does not know how to mend it. Not to say all change is bad but when you end up losing yourself the change and supposed growth doesn’t seem worth it. If you have changed ever so slightly over the years would you notice it? Don’t let misfortunes, bad experiences and people change you. If you do you will find a different, unrecognizable you yearning for the old to return.

Sincerely,
That Girl
