Church is my Fortress...

The preacher said today: "I remember when the church was righteous" and my heart skipped a beat.It got me thinking about my experiences and various churches. The church is supposed to be a fortress against the evils of the world and yet the devil is able to walk through the front door disguised as the pastor, deacon, and or choir member. The church itself may be a sanctuary but the people inside are ALL sinners. They pass judgment on others, spread rumors and place themselves on pedestals. So there have been times where I question why go to church.

Why go to church? Why engross myself into a place where judgment is the most cruel and hypocritical? Those without sin shall cast the first stone. The thing about church and the people in it is that they don't matter. Like I said church is a fortress but God is salvation. A fortress is something that can tumble and be destroyed by the enemy. Salvation can never be altered. The church goers who say church is a necessity must not know God the way others do. God is the necessity not the politics in or the hypocrites of the church. You can go to church seven days a week and be an even bigger sinner then someone who has never set foot through the doors. So again, remember when the church was righteous?...was it ever really righteous? This to some may be outlandish even blasphemy but when you have faith and are comfortable in your beliefs there is no need to shy away from the words you wish to speak.
